Administrative History | By the 17th century, Odin Mine, also known as Oden Mine, was being mined by a partnership of wealthy and influential men who each had a financial stake in the mine. The partners included Richard Bagshawe, who became High Sheriff of Derbyshire. By the 18th century, the Duke of Devonshire had a stake in the mine. Lead mining was in operation there until 1869, after which it was briefly mined for fluorspar and barite in 1908-9. The site is now owned by The National Trust. |
