Administrative History | The West Derbyshire Liberal Association, which had existed in the 1880s, was succeeded by the West Derbyshire Liberal Unionist Association following the split over the question of Home Rule for Ireland.
Following a second change of name to the Matlock and District Liberal Association in the early 20th century, the organisation returned to its original name in 1962. The inaugural general meeting of the second West Derbyshire Liberal Association was held in the Ambulance Hut at the rear of the Town Hall in Matlock on Wednesday 18th July. The Association covers the towns of Darley Dale, Brassington, Hathersage, Matlock, Tideswell, Winster, and Wirksworth. |
