| Administrative History | In 1988 there was a proposal for a new leisure centre in Wirksworth to be developed for the community by Wirksworth & District Community Education Council in conjunction with Anthony Gell School, Wirksworth. Wirksworth Sports Group developed from Wirksworth & District Community Education Council Sports Sub-group. Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Dales District Council were also involved. These papers reflect the administration and negotiations for building permission, local fundraising and applications for district, county, regional and national funding which were undertaken. The leisure centre opened in 2000. |
