DescriptionAgreement between William de Burg' and Lord Hugo de Meynell, Lord of Langley, Sunday next after the exaltation of the Holy Cross AD 1273 [17 Sep].
William has granted to Hugo and his heirs, to be held freely and completely, [land] that has been assarted and that they will make assarted in the woods and fields of Snape, saving to William and his heirs and his men of 'leBurg' (except for Master William of Derby and his heirs, the religious men and initiates) the profits of hay and corn removed from the assarted lands.
And William and his heirs and men (with the exceptions noted) will have common pasture in a certain place called 'le heth de snape' which extends in length from the boundary between Burg' and Kirk Langley to the King's way leading towards Derby, and in breadth from the assart called 'daythefrudyng' to the new ditch ['fossatu'].
And William has granted to Hugo and his heirs [land] which he can have at [William's] will from all of his [William's] woods, wastes and fields (except for the place already mentioned) in the fee of Meynell Langley, to be held under the conditions set by William or his heirs or men.
