Lease for 16 years by Sir John Rowth, knight, of Brenley (county Kent) to William Clayton, gentleman, of Romeley, of capital messuage of Romeley, with all lands, namely Jack Greave Wood, Great Booney Yards, Square close, Nether Field, West Field, Hanging Bank, Cowe Yards, Paddocke, Overfield, Pingle, Little Booney Yard, Kipper Acre, Horse Close, Oxe close, Broome Close adjoining and Romeley Greave, in parishes of Barlborough and Clowne, (120 acres)

Description
at rent of £50 per annum;
Sir John, his Lady and family, when they visit the country, to have use, for three months, of great parlour, part of cellar, kitchen, chambers over hall and little parlour, and two little rooms adjoining the great chamber, with room in the stable for horses, paying a reasonable rate for the use thereof;
if Francis Routhe, Sir John's son, wishes to live in the messuage, then lease to be void on 3 years notice;
Clayton to pay £1 10/- per acre ploughed above 1/5 of whole, or for any part of Over field, Nether field, Cowe yards or square close;
Rowthe will acquitt Clayton of rent charge of £100 issuing from the lands.
