Lease for 9 years by Andrew Clayton, gentleman, of Romeley, to Mary Hewet, widow, of Clowne, and Joseph Richardson, husbandman, of Clowne, of a messuage in Clowne, the Crown lands (16 acres), lime kiln close, stone pitt close and Routenwell close (16 acres), the two Madyn closes and Garsett close (8 acres), Park Steel close and the close above it on the east (12 acres), upper cow pasture close (19 acres) Espe close and a pingle in Ringo (6 acres) and 8 acres of field dispersed in 9 parcels in the open field of Clowne, at £31 per annum, reserving to Clayton all woods other than thorns and hazels; to pay 40s per acre for every acre of crown lands, closes by the house or upper cow pasture close ploughed in last three years of lease.
