Archive CreatorCoxbench Independent Chapel
Administrative HistoryThe land on which 'Asterdale' was built was formerly copyhold of the Manor of Holbrooke. An Independent Chapel was built on the land in the 19th century but was closed in the 1920s. The chapel and a large plot of land was sold in 1926. Houses called 'Alpha Villa' and 'Clovelly' were built on the land and were later sold to separate individuals. The owner of 'Clovelly', William James, was a builder and appears to have built another house, 'Asterdale', on part of his property, in the late 1950s. These documents relate to 'Asterdale', which was sold in the 1970s, but also include original title deeds and copy deeds relating to the whole area.
Custodial HistoryThese documents formed part of a solicitor's collection and were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in June 2001
