TitleThe Discovery, or Little Faux Pas
Date[1803]
DescriptionA family discuss their daughter's pregnancy. On the far right the brother holds out his hands and says:
"Don't tell me sister. She was always a forward Hussey - when she was down with me in the country, she was always cutting out little Men instead of minding her needle-work - but however she is found out."
The mother, tears in her eyes, clasps her hands and says
"O' that I should live to see my daughter found out".
The father sits, hands on his knees, and asks:
"Come come don't mince the matter - since the thing is done and it can't be undone - have not you had a child"
The daughter, holds a handkerchief to her face and replies: "Well Papa - suppose I have. It was but a Little One".
