Description
Decorative borders including designs illustrating lines from plays and songs, social satires, and scenes of whimsical humour. They include both figures realistically drawn and grotesquely caricatured 'Lilliputian' characters. Also the front cover of the collection.

The decorative borders are mentioned in Ackermann's 1802 catalogue:
"Twenty-four sheets of grotesque caricature borders for decorating rooms, etc. Each sheet containing three strips, the whole set measuring 26 yards." (Griffiths, 1998).
The items have been arranged in date order, even though this does not always correspond to the numbering of the plates.
The text in the prints has not been transcribed, except for lines from plays and songs requiring further explanation.
