Elizabeth Farren, later Countess Derby (1762-1829) was born into an Irish theatrical family, she began as a singer, working alongside her mother and sisters. In 1777 she was engaged by Colman at the Haymarket to perform in 'She Stoops to Conquer'. From 1779 until her retirement from the stage and marriage to the Earl of Derby in 1797, she played at Drury Lane. She played Hermione there on 24 Oct 1786 and 15 Jan 1787.
