The title refers to Westminster election of 1784. Charles James Fox (1749-1806) was returned as member for Orkney Boroughs of Tain, Dingwall and Kirkwall as well as for Westminster. The Westminster seat was subject to a scrutiny, and no return was made until 1785, and so he was only able to sit in Parliament as a member for the Orkney Boroughs.
