Description
Papers relating to Bradbury Hall, Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, bought by Robinson and Sons in 1928 and extended to form a central works canteen and social venue for the firm. In the 1930s a series of celebrity concerts and lectures were held there and during the World War it was used as a recreational centre for troops stationed in the town.It was a staging post for Servicemen returning from Dunkirk, and provided temporary shelter for 3,000 London refugees.
Includes accounts 1934-1936, 1941-1942, 1945-19499, 1954-1962 and 1973, correspondence 1928-1984, sample entertainment programmes 1920s-1930s, plans and cuttings.
