Administrative History | The Cyclists' Touring Club was formed in 1878 as a national cycling organisation to look after the rights and conditions of cyclists. In 1909 the Nottingham District Association expanded to include Derbyshire. They divided in 1924, with the inaugural meeting of the Derby D.A. being held on 10 May in the Cavendish Café, Derby.
In about July 1929 a section was formed in Alfreton (D5244). This dispanded in 1949 and was reformed in 1991. Due to wartime problems, the Burton Section was transferred to North Staffordshire in 1943. The Long Eaton Section was formed in 1948 but disbanded in 1969. The Heanor was formed in 1950. Yet again this was dissolved in 1960. |
