Administrative History | Mr Terah Hooley of Risley Lodge died in 1927, leaving an estate comprised of property, stocks and securities. Real estate in Risley and Osgathorpe was sold soon after his death, but the remainder of his property, comprised mainly of terraced houses on Trafalgar Terrace, Trafalgar Square and Derby Road in Long Eaton, was kept on and administered under the terms of his will trust.
The original trustees and executors of the will were Terah Hooley's wife Mrs Mary E Hooley, his daughter Mrs Teresa M Butler, and Mr George R Groves. The annual income of the estate was to be paid to his wife and his daughter for their lives, subject to two annuities payable to his son Noel John Hooley (died c.1960) and his daughter-in-law Mrs E. Dorothy Hooley (died 1967). On the death of the survivor of Mrs M E Hooley and Mrs Butler the capital was to be divided equally between the issue of another son Ernest Terah Hooley and Mrs Butler. Mrs M E Hooley died in 1928, so for most of the period covered by these papers Mrs Teresa M Butler (who also called herself Miss T M Hooley) was the beneficiary of the trust, as well as one of its trustees. |
Custodial History | These files were kept by the solicitors' firm Ll. B Lewis and Son (later Lewis and Smith) of Long Eaton, who were solicitors for the will trust and also Mrs Teresa M Butler's personal solicitors. The papers were deposited in November 2000. |
