Administrative History
Linton and Castle Gresley townships were originally in the parish of (Church) Gresley. In the late 19th century a chapel of ease was opened at Linton. It was licensed for baptisms and burials in 1881, and for marriages in 1886. A separate parish of Linton and Castle Gresley was created in 1984. In 2001 the benefice of the parish was merged with Croxall, Rosliston and Walton upon Trent
