W F M Eldridge was for many years a member of the governing body of Matlock All Saints Junior and Infant Schools (for other records see D3482), following in his father's footsteps. He was also involved with Matlock All Saints parish church (for other records see D1847), Matlock Sports Club Limited and the family tailoring and outfitters business in Dale Road and Causeway Lane.
