Administrative History
Henry Howe Bemrose was the eldest son of the Derby printer William Bemrose, and his wife Elizabeth. He and his brother William (1831-1908) became partners in William Bemrose and Sons in 1858, with Henry eventually becoming chairman. Active in public life, Henry Howe Bemrose was Mayor of Derby 1877-1878 and the MP for Derby 1805-1900. He was knighted 1897 and received the Freedom of the Borough of Derby in 1910.
