Transcript or IndexI reply by return of post to yr last night’s
Letter, to prevent all unnecessary suspense –
I communicated yr Letter immediately to
my Bro[the]r & after considering it very minutely[?]
he desired me to inform you that in the
Character of Guardian he felt it quite
impossible to sanction the idea[?] you
had fixt upon – but as you are of
age to Chuse Another Guardian, he
can do you no injury in re[..]ing nothing
as fixt that he accepted at your
request, & that he has had the
vexation to find yr Conduct had
always rendered inutile[?] in the present
state of y[ou]r affairs it would be Absolute
ruin for you to give up The Trusteeship.
He looks upon that trust
as sacred, & if you are moderate in y[ou]r
Expectations, & will let him know what
is necessary for Your present expences
he will make any reasonable advance
To serve you with this indulgence
you I trust you will make a proper
use of this indulgence.
I cannot give you the advice you [sic]
respecting y[ou]r Bro[the]r being totally
ignorant of the Circumstances of the
case & quite unacquainted w[i]th y[ou]r Bro[the]r’s
disposition & of the degree of affection
& Confidence that subsists between
You – Excuse great hurry
