Miller Mundy family of Shipley Hall, Heanor
Administrative History
Godfrey was the son of Alfred Edward Miller Mundy (1849-1920) and Catherine Louisa. He married Mollie Ethel Gertrude Buck in 1915 and was the father of Major Edward Peter Godfrey Miller Mundy (1916-1981) and Maureen Angela Mundy (b. 1918).
Godfrey inherited Shipley Hall on his father's death. He chose to live in Hampshire and sold the hall to the Shipley Colliery Company. The resulting extraction of coal from under the hall resulted in serious subsidence problems, and the hall was demolished in the 1940s.
