| Administrative History | William Holmes, who was born in Wirksworth in 1835, emigrated with his wife, Emma, to Australia in 1859. They settled at Gulgong in New South Wales in about 1869. Emma died in 1873, and William and his children moved to Sydney in about 1882. William died in 1913. The family kept in touch with their relatives in Derbyshire by letter. |
