Date
1896-1897
Description
Special case made upon application by the Duke of Devonshire to question a conviction made against him in 1896, on the grounds that the conviction was erroneous in point of law. The Duke of Devonshire was the owner of the land with an interest in the Mine. Papers include a Summary of the case; Notice dated 26 Nov 1896, served on the two JPs involved in the case, Haughton Charles Okeover and Thomas Orme Farmer in relation to the Information supplied by Arthur Henry Stokes; Notice served to Mr Stokes, 2 Dec 1896; correspondence, Oct 1896-May 1897, to Messrs F. & H. Taylor, Solicitors to the Dukes of Devonshire.
