Administrative History
A house built by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1777 as a residence for his business partner Mr Need was converted by Need’s son-in-law into a chapel. It was bought by Lady Glenorchy as a chapel for use by lndependents and later passed to trustees.
Custodial History
The record was originally accessioned as part of deposit number D2608 and reaccessioned in November 1998. D4935/2/1 was transferred from Warwickshire County Record Office in October 2019, having been deposited by the United Reformed Church West Midlands Province. It may have been in the custody of Rev. Reginald Mansfield (see D6824/5) prior to deposit at Warwickshire.
