Description | This series is not quite complete. The documents are probably drafts for the formal record of the court. They are often endorsed as entered. They are records of the court leet or view of frankpledge, often with the great court baron, held twice annually before the steward of the Jodrell family, lords of the manor. The verdicts include jury lists, presentments including presentment [appointment] of the next constable, amercements and pains. The jurors usually sign the verdicts, but at other times their names appear to be written in the same hand |
