Archive CreatorHartshorne and Seals Rural District Council
Administrative HistoryNetherseal and Overseal were transferred to Derbyshire from Leicestershire in 1897, at the same time as Measham was transferred from Derbyshire to Leicestershire. Hartshorne and Measham was a newly-created Rural District Council in 1897 including Calke, Hartshorne, Snisby and Ticknall. Hartshorne and Seals Rural District Council included the Derbyshire parishes covered by Ashby-de-la- Zouch Poor Law Union. The RDC was responsible for sewerage and water supply, street cleaning and highway maintenance.
Custodial HistoryThe records were deposited by South Derbyshire District Council in 1978 as part of D1272. They were reaccessioned in April 1997.
