Administrative HistoryIn 1792 an Act of Parliament was passed for paving, lighting, cleaning and otherwise improving the streets of Derby. In 1825 a further Act was passed whose powers extended beyond street improvements to include a new Town Hall, a new market, better drainage and the prevention of nuisances. The powers of the 1825 Act were vested in the Mayor, Alderman and owners of property with rateable value of £30. Improvements were made by the Commissioners until 1850 when their powers were taken over by Derby Local Board.
