| Description | The Common was shared between Kirk Ireton and Callow, the later having only two proprietors Phillip Gell and Charles Chadwick, who wanted to partition their joint estate. The Commissioner appointed was Samuel Wyatt, John Cruso was his clerk and Frederick Sanders surveyor. After obtaining the Enclosure Act the Common had to be divided between Kirk Ireton and Callow, new roads laid out, claims of common right received, lands allotted and rates levied to cover costs. This work occupied Wyatt from his appointment in the summer of 1803 until the final settlement of the award in January 1807. |
