Administrative History | Collection of scripts, music, libretti and theatre programmes made by Phillip Jackson and his son George (Guddie) both of whom were deeply involved with the Buxton Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (BADOS) dating from the late 19th century until the 1960s with a break whilst Guddie was with the British Army in India and Sri Lanka from 1940 to 1946. Almost all of the documents have a direct connection with BADOS productions, most of which involved Phillip or Guddie and other close friends and members of their families.

Phillip Jackson 1872-1945: Born in Buxton and brought up at The Eagle Hotel on the Market Place he went on to spend many years as editor and managing director of the Buxton Advertiser and List of Visitors. He was an early enthusiastic member of BADOS, particularly playing leading roles in Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas.
George Phillip Boughen Jackson 1906-1992: Phillip's elder son who became involved in BADOS in the 1920s and 30s and after the Second World War he stage managed almost all the major productions including the "triumphant" 1955 Oklahoma.
Robert Matthew Jackson 1887-1905: Youngest brother of Phillip
Edna May Jackson née Bailey 1904-1993: She was a member of the cast of plays and musical productions from the 1920s and later was also active on committees concerned with the running of the Society.
Kathleen Mary Jackson 1913-1999: Daughter of Phillip. From the mid-1930s until 1939 she appeared in minor and leading roles in several musical producions.
Herbert Shipton: a contemporary and great friend of Phillip, Herbert practiced as a solicitor in the town and their shared enthusiasms icluded as well as BADOS, cricket, Herbert being far the better player and St Anne's Masonic Lodge.
