Administrative History | Parish councils were established as a consequence of the Local Government Act of 1894. They were set up to provide local services not provided by the County Council or District Councils. The services involved included street lighting, allotments, recreation grounds, burial grounds and public seating. The Scarcliffe Parish Council would have been established in 1894 or 1895, as would have the Upper Langwith Parish Council. By the County of Derby Review Order of 1935, the parish of Upper Langwith was divided between the parishes of Shirebrook and Scarcliffe. |
Custodial History | These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in July 1995. |
