Administrative History
The first Wesleyan chapel in Swadlincote was built in 1806, but the building on West Street was constructed in 1816. It was enlarged in 1823 and again in 1837, but in 1863 was entirely rebuilt on the same site.
The chapel was originally part of the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Wesleyan circuit. In 1872 it joined the new Woodville and Swadlincote circuit. Since 1955 it has been part of the South Derbyshire Methodist circuit. For circuit records see D2740.
