Administrative History
Members of this Methodist Society met in a room in Castle Gresley until a chapel was built, probably by 1881. A new chapel was built early in the 20th century. This chapel closed in 1996. On 1st September 1996 the Society at Castle Gresley, Station Street amalgamated with that of Castle Gresley, High Cross Banks to form Castle Gresley Methodist Church.
The church was part of the Woodville and Swadlincote Methodist circuit until 1955 when the circuit merged with the Church Gresley circuit to form the South Derbyshire Methodist circuit.
