Administrative History | The Derby Council of Social Services was inaugurated in 1973 to promote charitable purposes, in particular the advancement of education, the furtherance of health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness, and to promote and organise cooperation between statutory authorities and voluntary organisations in the Borough of Derby. Its work was to involve the assisting of charitable bodies financially or otherwise, collecting contributions, funds, gifts, etc, procuring and providing information, publishing leaflets, pamphlets, etc and arranging meetings, lectures and exhibitions. In 1974, the Council became known as the Derby Council for Voluntary Service. |
