Administrative History | Under an 1874 Charity Commissioners' scheme, the governors of the Joshua Webster charity were empowered to spend £5000 on new school facilities. On 19 June 1876, New Whittington Endowed School opened in newly constructed buildings on London Street. After the passing of the Education Act 1902, control of the school passed to the county education authority. Until 1931 it was organised in two departments or schools, infants and mixed, but in that year the departments were amalgamated. |
