| Administrative History | Under an 1874 Charity Commissioners' scheme, the governors of the Joshua Webster charity were empowered to spend £5000 on new school facilities. On 19 June 1876, New Whittington Endowed School opened in newly constructed buildings on London Street. After the passing of the Education Act 1902, control of the school passed to the county education authority. In 1928 The Infants Department chnaged to a Primary Department, and the Mixed a Senior Department. In 1931 the two departments were amalgamated. Following an academy conversion agreement dated 30 March 2017 (see DCC/LG/CX/3290) New Whittington Community Primary School ceased to exist, being replaced by an academy. |
| Custodial History | These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in two accessions, on 30 November 1994 and 25 June 2024. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist. |
