Archive CreatorHerbert Evans (1890-1967) of Youlgreave, joiner and composer
Administrative HistoryHerbert Evans was born on 20 June 1890 to Edwin and Sarah Evans of Youlgreave. Like his father, Herbert was a joiner and contractor by trade. He spent most of his life living at "Pretoria Villa" in Youlgreave which his father has built in 1906. He married Ida Perrins (b 1897) in 1934. He died on 14 November 1967.

Herbert Evans was the original organist of the Wesleyan Reform Church at Youlgreave. He was also responsible for building the Church. He was a keen composer of hymns, many of which are regularly sung in other Methodist churches in the area because of their Derbyshire associations.
