Description
The small court in Melbourne held views of frankpledge, heard petty criminal cases, adjudicated on breaches of the assize of bread and ale, pleas of debt and dealt with the transfer of copyhold land. It sat at approximately 3 week intervals. The business of the court during each session is arranged by place and the place headings are given in the left hand margin. The roll includes entries for Newton, Osmaston, Chellaston, Swarkestone and Normanton.
