Description
These documents appear to be an artificial collection, perhaps collected by an antiquarian or local historian.
The first series includes many letters are to London booksellers, especially Messrs Cadell and Davies of The Strand and Mr. Triphook of Old Bond Street, from Derbyshire clients. Writers include Sir Henry Crewe of Calke (D364/B/7, 9-10, 12-13), Thomas Bateman of Middleton by Wirksworth (D364/B/27), Henry Pearson of Norton Vicarage (D364/B/16-17, 25-26) and the Duke of Rutland (D364/B/40-45). Books ordered include the Derbyshire volume in the Lyons brothers' 'Magna Britannia' and works by Sir William Gell, the topographer and antiquary.
The second series of miscellaneous letters include two relating to Nell Gwynne, mistress of King Charles II, 1681(D364/Z/5-6).

Custodial History
These documents were found in the Record Office and accessioned in February 1966. Their origin is unknown but they were found close to collection D352 and housed in the same type of folder, so may be associated with Col J R Colville of Lullington.
