| Description | Enclosing bills for £390. He advises cautious buying. Trade is bad. He hears Bales have a large lot of cattle coming and means to see them before the Fair. He tells his son to get 8 nice, fresh bullocks for the Riothe, hopes he may pick them up at the lower end of the Town and the better end of the Market - on pretty good terms. He thinks it best to get ones which will be fat this year. He does not expect to get above 10 cows for the Pasture, and hopes his son will be able to get a dozen nice, forward ones. Joseph has come and James senior has given him £10 to pay the expenses of the cattle droving. |
