Allestree and Quarndon Burial Society
Administrative History
The Allestree and Quarndon Burial Society was formed in about 1856 and registered under the Friendly Societies Act 1875 in 1886. The aim of the Society was to build up funds to ensure payment of sums of money, called funeral allowances, after the death of a member or child of a member. The Society was dissolved in 1957, with the assets being shared proportionately between those members still alive on 31 Dec 1956.
Custodial History
The records were accessioned in the Derbyshire Record Office in November 1991 and February 2003.
