Title
Copy of petition (not signed) from the Church of Christ assembling at Chinley Chapel to the managers of the Congregational Fund asking them to allow their minister an “annual Exhibition” because they cannot afford to pay him more than £30 annually, with detail of the Chapel’s history and finance. Endorsed with copy of a clause in will of Ann Slack of Slack Hall (5 Feb 1779) leaving £20 towards support of a minister at the chapel or, if no minister, for instruction of poor children at Bowden Head School, Chapel en le Frith. Memorandum that this was given to “me John Carrington” by Mr Thomas Slack her husband to be copied and kept, 25 Nov 1783.
