Title
Photographs of criminals or convicts
Date
[c1870s]-1891
Description
Two photographs of unknown criminals or convicts, originally pasted onto criminal register forms or registers but now detached: one a studio portrait of a young man or boy [1870s-1880s], the other a portrait of a woman wearing a shawl dated 9 Apr 1891.
These photographs were part of a group of five; three others have been identified and reattached to their pages in the relevant criminal registers. The photographs were found with a typed mid-late 20th cent index card reading: 'Walter White, 13 years. Stealing money - sentenced to 1 months Hard Labour and 5 years Reformatory'. It's possible that this refers to the photograph of the young man, but as the archive was not well ordered when it arrived, it may be unrelated.
