Administrative History | The school opened in 1910 as Hastings Street Higher Grade Council School, changing its name to Derby Central School for Boys in 1914. The school moved to Abbey Street in 1930 into premises vacated by the Municipal Secondary School when it moved out to Bemrose School. At the outbreak of war in 1939 the school moved to Darley Abbey Park. The school was re-named Henry Cavendish School when it opened on a new site at St Andrew's View, Chaddesden in October 1958. It became a Senior High School (ages 13-18) following reorganisation in the early 1970s and merged with nearby Darwin School in 1989 to form High View School, Chaddesden. |
