DescriptionProbate and will of Joseph Roberts of Sheffield, razorsmith; reciting provision already made for securing to Joseph and Hannah Barlow, children of wife, Sarah, by former marriage, £100 each; £40 annuity to wife, Sarah; and £450 to own son, Joseph Roberts, his partner in trades of razor maker and table knife haft presser, as his share of capital; now leaves to wife household goods brought by her at marriage, and residue of household goods to own daughter, Hannah Roberts, because he has already furnished houses for son, Joseph, and daughter, Mary; leaves leasehold estates and stock-in-trade to friends, Thomas Holy, merchant, Henry Froggatt, factors, Jonathan Beel, place cutler, and John Saunderson, shopkeeper, all of Sheffield, in trust to continue in partnership with Joseph Roberts for benefit of Joseph, Hannah and Mary, and to permit son-in-law, Samuel Holroyd, Mary's husband to assist, until Sarah's death; paying annuity and interest on £200 to Sarah; 1 guinea each to Joseph Roberts and Samuel Holroyd weekly as wages; shares in profits proportionate to £450 capital to Joseph; shares proportionate to £300 capital to Mary Holroyd for her separate disposal; 15s weekly to Hannah Roberts, if unmarried, to be set against shares in profit proportionate to £400 capital; if named Hannah to have no weekly allowance but share in profits for her separate disposal; trustees to employ one or more clerks. After Sarah's death business, profits and stock to be divided between Joseph Roberts, Samuel and Mary Holroyd, and Hannah Roberts, in proportion to capital shares; leasehold houses to be divided equally between them
