TitleAudley Manor court: Wednesday next after the feast of the annunciation BVM 15 Henry VI [27 Mar 1437]
Jury verdict in case between William Bircus and Margerie his wife, and Thomas Houdson regarding the tenure of a messuage and 16a of land in Talk viz (jury state) that William Walthew was seised of a messuage and 15a of land in Talk, and that Margaret elder daughter of William Walthew married William Parker, who had issued [namely], Margerie wife of William Bircus, and that the said Margerie is next heir of John Tailior to the said messuage and 15a of land, unless the said John Tailior and Sibilla his wife have estate in the said tenement in fee, Sibilla being the younger daughter of William Walthew
Friday next after feast of St James 15 Henry VI, William Bircus and Margerie his wife complained against Thomas Houdson, and sought from him a messuage and 16a of land in Talk which was detained from them by force and injustice: by this injustice by which the said Walthew was seised in demesne as of fee in that tenement, he gave accustomed estate of the manor to Thomas Tailior and Sibilla daughter of William Walthew, wife of said Thomas, and the heirs of their bodies, and if the said Thomas and Sibilla died without lawful issue, the tenement remained to the right heirs of William Walthew - the said Thomas and Sibilla had issue, but John their son died without issue and after his death the tenement reverted to Margerie wife of William Bircus as daughter of Margaret daughter of William Walthew: jury therefore say that William Bircus and Margerie his wife have a better right to hold the said messuage and 15a of land against all the demands of Thomas Houdson, and to reoccupy and bbe admitted in court
