| Administrative History | Wirksworth is one of the ancient parishes of Derbyshire. It includes the townships of Alderwasley, Ashleyhay, Callow, Griffe Grange and Hopton. Formerly it also included the townships of Biggin, which became part of the parish of Hulland in 1853; ldridgehay and Alton which became a chapelry in 1855 and a separate parish in 1869; and Middleton by Wirksworth, including lble and lvonbrook Grange, which became a separate parish in 1847. |

D3105/A/PI/41/1 was transferred by Sheffield Archives on behalf of the Charity Commission under Section 3(6) of the Public Records Act in December 2013. D3105/A/PO/2/1 was donated by a descendant of a former overseer in February 2016. |
