Administrative History
Reservoirs to serve Buxton were built by the Duke of Devonshire as early as the 18th century. They were leased to the Local Board, which later became an Urban District Council in 1894 and a Borough Council in 1917. Supply was provided by the Borough Council until the establishment of the North Derbyshire Water Board.
