| Administrative History | A school was first established at Newbold in 1785 by George Milnes of Dunston Hall. Supported by voluntary subscriptions, it remained in use until 1863, when the building was sold to become the Wheatsheaf Inn (since rebuilt). A second school on land given by the Revd A Crawford-Bromehead of Newbold House served Newbold from 1863 until 1961. Another school was officially opened on 21 Oct 1961 on a new site on Cranborne Road, Newbold.
As a local authority school, Newbold Church of England Primary School ceased to exist in June 2014. It was replaced the following month by a sponsor-led academy of the same name. |
| Custodial History | These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in two accessions, on 03 June 1985 and 03 July 1995. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist. |
