Title
Littleover: Overseers' account book
Date
1782-1822
Description
Including:-
(a) Churchwardens' accounts, 1784-c.1817.
For a few years these are separate accounts, but mostly they are combined with the overseers' accounts. It seems that for the greater part of the period the offices of churchwarden and overseer were held by the same person.
(b) Accounts of the surveyor of the highway, 1783-1791 (not continuous).
Please note: even when there were no detailed churchwardens' and surveyors' accounts, their expenditure totals, together with the constable's total expenditure, are included
in the overseers' accounts.
Volume also includes:-
(c) accounts for the expenses of the substitutes for the supplementary militia, 1797, 1799.
(d) note of charitable bequest by Mrs Bridget Clayton of Holbrook, 1780.
(e) accounts for building a house for William Hatfield, 1797.
(f) census totals for Littleover, 1801, 1811 (at end).
