Administrative HistoryDerbyshire Baptist Lay Preachers Association was established in 1865. Although the Association did not formally close, it had effectively ceased to operate by 2018.

Queen Street Baptist Church, Ilkeston
From 1785 to 1822, there was a joint Baptist cause at Ilkeston and Smalley which ended in 1822 when the Smalley Church separated from the Church at Ilkeston. These records, B28-B34, also refer to the congregation at Newthorpe where a church opened in 1828. There are also minutes of the "Breakaway Cause" which met at the chapel in South Street between 1859 and 1860.
Custodial HistoryThe records of the Derbyshire District Committee (Derbyshire Baptist Union), the Derby and District Baptist Union, the Derby Sunday School Union and the Baptist churches at Chesterfield, Queen Street and South Street, Ilkeston and Swadlincote (D2660 J/B1-11, D2660 J/B28-35 and D2660 J/B62) were previously deposited in the Local Studies Section, Derby Central Library between 1966 and 1982 (DL 90). The former reference numbers are given in brackets in the list. Deposited in the Record Office in July and August 1983.

Records for the Derbyshire Baptist Lay Preachers Assocation were re-accessioned to D8368 in May 2021.
