Administrative History
Marjorie Blount came from a Belper family. In the 1940s she began contributing magazine articles on local historical themes to The Derbyshire Countryside. In the 1960s some of these articles were recorded by her and broadcast on BBC local radio, usually on the Midlands Miscellany programme.
Miss Blount became an accredited Methodist local preacher in 1953 and regularly preached in the Belper Methodist circuit. Her earliest writings referred to in this collection are plays on religious themes and a Nativity Play broadcast on BBC Radio on Christmas Day 1945.
