Administrative History
Alfreton Ironworks were established by the Oakes family in Riddings in 1801. The business expanded into coal and iron mines, iron smelting furnaces and the manufacture of cast iron pipes. Originally known as James Oakes and Co Ltd, the firm eventually became part of Stanton Ironworks Co Ltd.
Custodial History
This copy was given to the Record Office in 1983.
